Première film 'Haring de groenteman'

Along with over fifty local residents, artists Inger Koerselman and Anne Marie van Rees worked intensively on the creation of the film 'Haring de groenteman' (Haring the greencrocer). This film is based on the history of the Weimarstraat and in particular of the property at number 24a.
Long before Heden established the project place Hier, this was a greengrocer who listened to the name Haring (Herring). Inger and Anne Marie found this information so inspiring that they went to work right away. It did not take long for Heden Hier, to be taken up again by tomatoes, leeks, and ... herring.

The film is based on actual events and stories collected by (former) residents and people who knew the actual person Haaring (it turned out his original name was written with double a). In the film we meet Haring the greengrocer as the son of To Tomaat and Harinkje Haring. As a result, he is half tomato and half herring and he does not know whether he wants to be a greengrocer or wants to swim in the sea.
The premiere of 'Haring de groenteman' is Sunday, September 25 at 16:00 at Heden Hier at the Weimarstraat 24a. After the movie you can see the exhibition in which all the props, costumes, posters and other attributes of the film are central. You can visit this exhibition as well from 26 till 28 September between 12.00 and 17.00 hours.

'Haring de groenteman'

Artists Anne Marie van Rees and Inger Koerselman are working on a new art project at Heden Hier in July, August and September. The final product is a film, which will form by using stories (old and new) gained at The Hague archive and from the residents in and around the Weimarstraat.

During this period they will use the collected stories as inspiration material. By giving workshops (dancing, music, decor/costumes) the artists want to work with the residents. They also will encourage them to participate in the film.

As an introduction they will make a perfomance. This takes place on Saturday 16 July, at 16.00 o'clock at Heden Hier. Afterwards there is a chance to talk with the artists while enjoying a drink and a snack.

Opening hours are from Tuesday till Friday from 10 o'clock till 17 o'clock (diffrent hours on Thursday and in the weekends).

Looking Food! Indieguerillas

An installation which looks like a shop in a gallery: that can only come from Indieguerillas! Especially in these times of excessive eating and decorative foods, Heden and Kosmopolis Den Haag thought it was a good idea to invite Indieguerillas for a period of three months in The Hague to do a project on food.

Looking Food! is about the visual side of food and food packaging. You can pack a snack in aluminum or a white paper bag or you can sell it in an eye-catching packaging design, so that the same snack might even tastes better too. What tempts us to buy one product and not the other, is often a matter of personal taste and experience. Indieguerillas seeks the fusion of Dutch and Indonesian cuisines.

Indieguerillas are a big hit in Asia: their kitsch pop style paintings are now offered at international auctions. Their printed clothing and gadgets are on sale through www.happyvictim.com. Design according to Indieguerillas is always part of a larger system. Especially for their residency in The Hague they created the avatar Gasto Naut. The report of his experiences can be followed on his Facebook page.

Follow the emergence of Looking Food! from December 13 as the 'shop' of Indieguerillas opens and the installation begins.
